A new PET-CT positron emission tomography (Discovery 710) service has been launched at the University Clinic of Innovative Medicine.
The study is the gold standard in the diagnosis of oncological pathology
Indications for positron emission tomography:
- Determining the prevalence of cancer;
- Detection of recurrence and/or ongoing progression of the disease;
- Identification of primary foci of the metastatic process and/or paraneoplastic syndrome;
- Differentiation of benign/malignant tumors;
- Evaluation of the effectiveness of treatment (chemotherapy, radiation therapy, combination therapy) ;
- Choosing the optimal location for a biopsy;
- Planning of surgical treatment;
- Planning of radiation therapy.
