On July 6, 2024, Avicenna Batumi Medical University, on the initiative and with the organization of Dr. Ioseb Sikharulidze, founder of the Center for Cardiovascular and Interventional Medicine at the MedCenter High Technology Hospital, held a medical conference titled “Cardiovascular Diseases and Interventional Medicine – Achievements and Challenges.”
The conference discussed the possibilities and methods of modern cardiointerventional medicine that need to be implemented in the region. Clinical cases in the cardiac and angiosurgical areas of MedCenter were presented, demonstrating a high level of interventions and successful outcomes.

- Irakli Gogorishvili, Academic Doctor of Medicine and Interventional Cardiologist
- Zaza Katsitadze, Cardiac Surgeon, Doctor of Medical Sciences
The conference was also attended by representatives of the regional medical community.
The event featured presentations by cardiac surgeons Ioseb Sikharulidze and Georgy Nikolaishvili, cardiac surgeons Georgy Gabaidze and Bachuki Nachkebia, and angiosurgeon Merab Mikeladze. After the presentations, a panel discussion was held, during which participants actively discussed the necessary actions for introducing modern interventions in the region. Representatives of state healthcare structures expressed their willingness to actively participate in this process.
There was also a discussion of clinical cases and their outcomes, where it was unanimously recognized that, considering angioedema, cardiointerventions, and cardiac surgery by medical personnel and the existing material and technical base of MedCenter, it is possible to handle the most challenging tasks in cardiac surgery, which is vital for patients.
The conference was successful, confirming the high level of competence and professionalism of our specialists.
