Stomach biopsy is a diagnostic procedure in which a small part of the stomach tissue is taken for subsequent microscopic examination. This method is used to diagnose various stomach diseases, such as gastritis, ulcers, malignant and benign tumors, and to detect Helicobacter pylori infection.
During the procedure, an endoscope is inserted through the mouth into the stomach, where the doctor uses special tools to take small tissue samples from the lining. These samples are then examined under a microscope. The patient is recommended to fast for 6-8 hours before the procedure to ensure the accuracy of the results and minimize the risk of complications.
